Connecting nurses worldwide since 1958.
Discover the heart of NCFI - who we are, why we exist, and how we connect and equip Christian nurses around the world through our history, vision, mission, and strategic priorities.
The purpose of NCFI
is to connect Christian nurses around the world, equipping them to live out their faith in professional practice.
The mission of NCFI
is to equip and encourage Christian nurses to integrate Biblical principles and Christ-centered values in clinical practice, leadership, education and research.
The aims of NCFI are detailed in the Constitution, which you can view in our Whitepapers section in Resources.
From its beginnings, when Scottish nurse Johan Allen began to search out countries where there were NCF groups and bring them together for mutual benefit, NCFI has been connecting nurses worldwide.
Nurses Christian Fellowship International was founded in 1958 as an independent, non-denominational, non-governmental, non-partisan corporation comprised of national Nurses Christian Fellowships (NNCFs).
The remarkable story of the foundation, expansion, and development of this unique organisation can be found in a book by Pat Ashworth, a past President of NCFI.

There are some conversations or events that have a significant impact on us.
For me, one of those conversations was with a nurse working in a hospital. The nurse felt alone in her workplace because there weren’t other Christians where she worked – or at least none that she knew of. She could talk with her colleagues about professional issues, but not from a faith perspective. As a member of a local church, she had spiritual input and could meet and pray with others, but they weren’t nurses and didn’t understand the unique issues that she faced in her professional work.
The need for Christian nurses and midwives to be able to support and learn from one another from both a professional and faith perspective is one of the main reasons that Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) was established and continues today.
NCFI has a unique ministry in connecting Christian nurses and midwives from around the world. Through fellowship and the sharing of wisdom and experiences, we seek to encourage and equip Christian nurses and midwives to integrate Biblical principles and Christ-centered values in clinical practice, leadership, education, and research.
We invite you to join us by connecting with other Christian nurses and midwives in your country or region or internationally.
Together let us “…encourage one another and build each other up”.

Statement of Faith
The one true God, Creator of all things, eternally exists in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness and authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and conduct.
All people created in God’s image but alienated from God because of sin.
Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, fully divine and fully human, born of the Virgin Mary, came to reconcile humankind with God the Father.
The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection providing the only ground for salvation and justification for all who repent and believe.
The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit calling all believers to love, serve others, seek justice, resist evil, and to proclaim Jesus, crucified and raised.
The future personal return and victorious reign of Jesus Christ who will judge all people with justice and mercy. To God Be the Glory Forever!
